About Small Groups
As well as coming together for Sunday worship, it is good for us to meet in smaller groups. A house group provides the opportunity to do that, enabling us to share with each other, pray together and study the Bible – not to mention enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with biscuits! It is also a great way of getting to know a group of people in the church really well.
A house group meeting typically starts with conversation over refreshments. If you have something on your mind this is a good time to share it with others in the group, so that we can support and pray for each other.
As well as a time of open prayer, a key part of the meeting is Bible study, where we look at a book of the Bible or a biblical theme and learn more about God’s word and how to apply it in our own lives. Usually the house group leader will prepare the study but sometimes they may invite someone else in the group to lead. Although the leader will guide the group through the study, everyone is encouraged to join in the discussion and to ask questions. The more you contribute, the more you will gain!
There are several house groups to choose from and they meet at various times and in various places – there is sure to be one that is right for you!
