People have been worshipping at Croham Road since 1893. To mark this, and to give thanks for God’s provision over the years, we have a ‘Thank Offering’ near the church’s anniversary, when our gifts go to support Christian work at home and abroad. This year we are dividing the offering between:
Christian Family Concern
This locally-based charity seeks to work in the community in three main areas:
- It provides safe, secure and comfortable supported accommodation for vulnerable young mothers and their children;
- the 56-place Birdhurst Day Nursery provides structured care to pre-school children;
- the counselling service is open to those of any faith or none.
At the heart of its work, is the wish to show God’s love to all in Croydon’s diverse community.

Sierra Leone Education and Development (SLED)
Sierra Leone is one of Africa’s poorest countries, suffering the ravages of war and, more recently, Ebola. One of Croham Road’s members, Alphonso Williams, who is himself from Sierra Leone, set up SLED to support children through school and college. Individuals have sponsored children through SLED and enabled them to have access to an education which would otherwise be denied them.
Spurgeon’s College, in South Norwood, is a theological college which offers a range of practical and academic courses, including those preparing candidates for ministry. Croham Road has benefitted from the ministry of Spurgeon’s alumni and through this offering is seeking to give a little back.

Syrian Kids need Jesus
We are helping a church in southern Lebanon which is working with children in a nearby Syrian refugee camp.
